This works like a structured light scanner. It uses your screen to project a patterned image onto an object and uses your camera to collect the data.

Android phones have an app that I have been playing with called simply 3D Scanner.
It is in it's beta stage and takes much more work to get acceptable results. You can download the app here.

This is based on photogrammetry obviously. It doesn't compensate for the apparent differences in android phones. which I would imagine would be a daunting task. But it's ambitious none the less.
